How to start a new life after the New Year: advice from psychologists. How to start a new life after the New Year: advice from psychologists in January. Is it a good day to start

All of us for the New Year. We promise to lose weight, learn English, travel often, start snowboarding - sometimes there are so many plans that they cannot fit in one year. From an overabundance of goals and desires, and some even from laziness, we do not fulfill our New Year's resolutions. Do you intend to break the system and certainly achieve your goals in the new year? Then you need a clear plan that will help you organize your time properly. For competent planning, you will need sheets of paper, or any notebook in which you will write down your desires and goals in detail. So, let's begin.

Summarize the previous year

  • Write on a piece of paper or notebook page everything that you have achieved this year, everything that you are proud of, for which you could praise yourself. She closed the summer session three days before the start of the winter session, ran a marathon, did yoga for the first time, did not skip a single lesson, was at all the films on the day of their premiere.
  • If you made a promise to yourself last New Year, be sure to remember it. Have you achieved what you promised yourself? Are you satisfied with the result?
  • After you write down what you have achieved, write down what you wanted to achieve in the past year, but did not succeed. Be honest with yourself, do not write what others wanted from you, but you yourself did not need it. For example, you were required to learn Chinese, but you never did it because you do not want to learn it. The meaning of this exercise is to understand for yourself what you personally need and what others need, and what actions you are really satisfied with.

Write down all your dreams

Now, having assessed the past year and realized what worked and what didn’t, you can formulate a list of your desires for the future.

On a separate sheet, write down all your desires that you can think of. Write down everything, even the craziest thoughts - lick an icicle, declare your love, go to St. Petersburg for the weekend, skydive, hitchhike around Europe, start your own video blog - write everything that comes to mind and what you would like to do. It is important that you write down what you really want. After all, if you want, for example, to overthrow the Queen of England, then, we hasten to upset you, this is hardly feasible. On the other hand, don't be afraid of your own thoughts! It may seem to you that your idea is too bold, but you do not have the means and opportunities to implement it - it doesn’t matter, write it down anyway. While you are dreaming, do not forget to periodically look at the results of the previous year and check with them - perhaps you have already partially implemented some of your desires, but something did not work out and has ceased to be important to you.

By the way, try to specify your goals and desires. If you write “I want to be healthy” or “I want to travel”, then at the end of the year you are unlikely to say with certainty that your goal has been achieved. Dig deep inside yourself and figure out what is really important to you. Maybe you want to go on a trip to a particular country or want to take up a particular sport to improve your health.

Prioritize

So, you have two sheets in front of you: your desires and what you managed or failed to accomplish during the past year. Analyze what you have written and start compiling a list of priorities.

  • From the list of desires, select what you really want to achieve, what you have been thinking about for a long time
  • from the list of "failures" - something that you would still like to achieve, although it did not work out in the past year
  • From the list of your pride, write down what you have achieved, what you are proud of and what you would like to continue in the new year. For example, “I want to see the bridges in St. Petersburg”, “I want to lose 10 kg” and “I want to continue dancing twice a week.”

The resulting list of your “wants” cannot be endless, stop at 10-15 wishes. It will not be possible to break into all desires and all goals, it is more productive to gradually achieve one at a time than to strive for all at once.

Visualize!

After determining the most important goals and desires, it's time for their magic ... No, not execution, but design. Make it at home so that you can see all your goals every day, be inspired by motivating pictures and strive for the fulfillment of desires. You can also create themed "boards" on Pinterest, in which you will save all the most beautiful and inspiring pictures. On the "board" for each desire. Put a picture or photo on your phone screensaver that would symbolize or depict your main goal. For example, you want to go to a certain university, so put a beautiful photo of its facade and get motivated every time you look at the screen.

Write yourself a letter to the future

With the help of special sites on the Internet, you can write a letter to yourself from December 2017 to December 2018. Write there what you promise to accomplish next year, describe yourself now and who you want to be in 12 months, wish yourself good luck in fulfilling all your ideas and ideas. You can also send a video message to yourself. At the end of the year, you will receive this letter and you will be able to assess whether everything worked out and how much you yourself have changed over the past year.

I think it happened to you too. A few months ago, you promised yourself to quit smoking. Or stop eating sweets in such incredible quantities. Or start a healthy lifestyle and go to the gym. You rigidly set yourself conditions and demonstrated remarkable willpower. There was only one indulgence: a new life will begin in the New Year. Here you wake up on the morning of January 1 (that is, not in the morning, of course, but for a new life it will be morning), and everything will be as you want. You will immediately get on your skis, you will not eat up the leftovers from the festive table, you will buy a simulator instead of three new dresses and you will not be rude to your boss. Here it is, by magic. And you believe in this and look forward to the New Year, because there, after its onset, a new, bright life will begin, where you will be a hundred times smarter, more beautiful and healthier.

But the New Year comes, and on the first day you wake up with a sore head. And you eat a whole box of donated sweets. And you drink a huge mug of strong coffee with a cigarette. Then you grumble at your mother and your husband. You watch all weekend (9 days, oh happiness!) TV without getting out of bed. And when a remembering conscience reminds you that you actually, I remember, decided to start life from scratch, you shush at it and make excuses: "I'll start on March 1. It will be easier in the spring." But spring begins somehow in passing, by the way, imperceptibly, and then you - well, just like me - decide that now you will definitely change everything and be smart, but only after your birthday. And after a birthday, it becomes sad, so unbearably sad that it is already unbearable to force yourself. And then you again remember about the New Year and begin to wait for it with persistent hope. Yes, then, on January 1, you will start all over again.

A vicious circle, you might think. And together with you, I will think so, and hundreds, thousands of girls who tend to dream and believe in something bright and good. And we also know how to wait. Therefore, it is easier for us to set ourselves ghostly deadlines when everything will change than to change everything now, urgently, from today, and not from next Monday.

Let someone call it laziness, but we know that this is just our small weakness. It just so happens that taking and doing something is much more difficult than waiting. It's like jumping into cold water. You wanted, you planned, you decided... But when you stand before this very moment and you are about to do something, you begin to doubt. Was it so bad for you to change everything so radically? Will it get worse after that? Isn't it in vain that you started all this? What if something good goes along with the bad? And you can come up with hundreds of excuses, just not to change anything ... And along with this rejection of your volitional decision, you lose confidence in yourself, confidence in the future, you lose self-respect and even, perhaps, the respect of others. After all, have you already told someone that you start a new life from the New Year? You see how many consequences ... Therefore, you need to pull yourself together and take a step. Right into the hole. At once. And let it be cold and hard at first, but then there will be results that you did not expect.

1. Don't set impossible goals
I had a friend who decided to go in for sports every day since the New Year. I bought a fitness subscription in advance, plus new skis and a beautiful sports uniform. For a whole December, all the conversations and thoughts of my friend were occupied with this noble goal. We listened to her and envied her, what a fine fellow she was, that she had decided like that and had already invested so much money in this business. So there is no turning back. And then the New Year came. On the first day she allowed herself a day off, and on the second she went skiing into the nearest forest. The walk went great. The next day, my muscles ached, but a membership to a sports club haunted me. On the third, she did two hours of cardio work. The fourth girlfriend could not move. After missing three days of training, she became sad and gave up on her maximum task. I sold my subscription. I put my skis on the balcony and plunged into a lazy weekend. And all why? Because I overestimated my strength. If she decided to go in for sports twice a week, then she would completely master this regimen and would not despair so quickly.

We often take our plans too seriously and choose the most radical path. And this sets us up for failure. If you realize that sweets are not good for you, then by no means forbid yourself to eat sweets altogether. Limit yourself to two chocolates a day.

Quitting smoking is also easier if you reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke per day. In any case, take care of yourself. After all, it is not some other person who will carry out your plan after the New Year, but you. And it will not be easy for you, you can break loose. Therefore, try to realistically assess your capabilities and set only feasible goals. And over time, you will be able to improve the result and set new and new standards for yourself, which will be easier and easier to overcome.

2. Come up with a reward
First of all, it may be a slight relaxation in your new rules. If you have been preparing amazingly delicious dinners, lunches and breakfasts for your husband for a week, then on Sunday you can be capricious. If you have been training for a month without a single pass, then you can skip a couple of classes after spending them in the sauna and drinking green tea with a friend in a fitness cafe. And only when you understand how nice it is to reward yourself for excellent work, you will get even more pleasure from it.

And if you have an ally in your undertakings, then demand a reward from him. For example, your friend has long hinted that he would like to, to make you lose weight. He hinted very tactfully, but you yourself understand that this is a reasonable hint. So, it is worth bringing a friend as a stimulating moment. Let him promise to buy that combination from an expensive store that you have been staring at for so long if you lose 3 kg in a month. Do not forget about the first point and set a realistic goal. Then you get additional motivation: a possible gift, the respect of an ally and a sense of your own strong will. Agree: following your new rules is so much easier.

And since you are inclined to associate the beginning of a new life with a certain date (the beginning of the New Year), then also associate a possible reward with a certain number on the calendar and mark it in red. Then you will be able to calculate your strength and you will feel that your efforts will soon be rewarded according to their deserts.

You will see a possible stopping point when you can evaluate the result. You can also comfort yourself with the thought that on that very day you will be able to completely stop your new life and return to the old one. That is, you can also consider a return to last year's rules as a reward, if something suddenly fails. But I hope this doesn't happen.

3. Start a little early
No matter what we invent for ourselves, it is very difficult to take some important step on January 1st. Simply because this day is very ghostly and non-existent for us. On the first day of the New Year, we have to eat delicious salads and juicy tangerines, drink almost exhausted champagne and spend the whole day at home, once again watching all the same old New Year's films. It's such a tradition. And it will be very difficult to break it. Then, on January 2, it will be no less difficult, because it seems that you have already given up and, as a result, lost your fuse.

Therefore, the only way out is to start a little earlier. Another December 25, for example. Even then, limit the amount of alcohol you drink. Or go skiing. Or quit half your fans. It will be like a dress rehearsal, training before the main fight. And even then you will be able to assess your strengths and feel like a real hero.

One of my friends was going to leave her boyfriend for a very long time. Every week she decided to do it the following Monday, but every Monday her tongue would not turn, and the explanation was postponed. In December, she firmly decided to tell him about everything on the first of January, so as not to spoil the holiday. As you can guess, the New Year didn’t work out for her, because she couldn’t distract herself from her heavy thoughts, her hands and lips were trembling and she couldn’t even have a little fun. She thought how she would say everything, what he would answer, and it was not in vain that she came up with all this. On the first day, he left her himself. She, however, was not upset, but still regrets that she did not take this step back in December, then the New Year would have turned out to be joyful, and a lot of nerve cells would have been saved.

4. Keep a diary
This is what psychologists advise. I'm here for sure from the New Year . I will write down my smart thoughts there (sometimes this happens), ideas and events. This will not be the diary I kept at the age of 17, but a different, adult diary that will help you systematize thoughts, analyze events and find the main thing in the useless. I decided to start it on January 1st because my new purchased diary starts on January 1st. But that's not even the point. And the main thing is that I'm looking forward to 2006, because I feel it will be something new and interesting. And I will record any of my undertakings there and follow its development. So that later, in five years, when I open this leather book, I would not be ashamed that I am one of those people who never finish things. And the diary will push me, help, support me in a difficult moment. And I can always turn back a few pages and see: yes, there is actually progress. And that means that everyone needs it.

And last on this list, but first in importance: you need to believe in yourself and (a little) in a miracle. Say to yourself: "I can" and put a bold point. There should be no doubt. Because you: a) set a realistic goal and b) see bright future prospects. Plus you want to change and someone is supporting you. This means that you will succeed.

You made a decision, set deadlines, did everything possible - and now you just have to follow your own flags, and you will achieve what you want. This fact is known: if a woman doubts her desire and her ability to become a mother, then she is much less likely to become pregnant than the one who is confident in herself and her health. Therefore, deceive your body and all ill-wishers. Believe in yourself, and then there will be strength. And the upcoming New Year will help you with this, because we all expect miracles and fairy tales from him, and he will not deceive our expectations. What I wish you.

Traditionally, since the new year, numerous innovations in legislation come into force that will affect the lives of citizens of the country. In 2018, the Russians are waiting for an increase in salaries and pensions, a change in the minimum wage and tariffs for travel in public transport, significant changes are coming in the lives of motorists and land owners, they will also come to the IT sector.

Raising the minimum wage, salaries and pensions

From 2018, the minimum wage will increase in Russia. According to the adopted amendments to the law, it will now be 85% of the previously established subsistence minimum. In accordance with these norms, the minimum wage will increase to 9,489 rubles. At the same time, the salaries of public sector employees will also increase - they will be indexed by 4%. In particular, the increase will affect the military, teachers, cultural workers, officials at various levels. The size of pensions will also grow - in January 2018, indexation will be 3.7%. Later, in April, another increase is planned.

Traffic Laws

The authorities decided to seriously deal with lovers of illegal car tinting. From January 1, 2018, fines for violating the norms of light transmission of automotive glass for them will triple. Violation, according to the norms of the law, is the tinting of the windshield in such a way that the level of transmitted light drops below 75%, for the front side windows this figure is 70%. If the violation is recorded for the first time, the driver will be fined 1,500 rubles (now the amount of the fine is 500 rubles). For a second violation, you will have to pay 5,000 rubles.

Also in 2018, new signs will appear in courtyards and areas where the speed limit is 20 kilometers per hour. Such spaces will be called "calm traffic zones", where pedestrians will have an advantage over cars.

Debts on fines are fraught with trouble

Since the new year, unpaid fines threaten motorists with the deprivation of a driver's license. Bailiffs can now come to those who have accumulated debts for violations of traffic rules in the amount of 10 thousand rubles. In addition to debt collection, representatives of the law have the right to deprive a motorist-debtor of a driver's license.

Fuel prices will rise again

On January 1, 2018, excise taxes on gasoline and diesel were once again increased. The growth will be 50 kopecks per liter. For motorists, this means that the cost of a liter at gas stations will increase by about 60 kopecks per liter. During the year, excise taxes on fuel will increase again, also by 50 kopecks. The increase will take place in April, at the same time we can expect an increase in price tags at gas stations.

OSAGO becomes more convenient

With the beginning of 2018, the system of compulsory third party liability insurance is expected to undergo further changes. Now the policies will be issued on new forms. Among other differences, they will now be marked with a QR code, which will allow you to find out all the data on the concluded contract on the website of insurers (including the amount of insurance premium and coefficients). In addition, motorists will have the opportunity to refuse unnecessary services (they are often imposed by policy sellers) within 14 days instead of five, which were previously given to them "to think about."

Transportation of children will become safer

A law came into force prohibiting the transport of children older than 10 years on buses. This happened five years after the adoption of the relevant resolution, the entry into force of which was constantly delayed. The launch of the new rule is likely to not only improve the safety of transporting children, but also increase their cost, which, in turn, will affect the organization of school trips. At the same time, there is no talk about the introduction of such a norm for regular regular buses.

Public transport fares will rise

For ordinary passengers, travel in the metropolitan subway will rise in price a little. In 2018, one trip on the Troika card went up by a ruble. Thus, the fare will cost 36 rubles. Tickets for several trips and subscriptions will also increase in price. So, "United" for 60 trips now costs 1765 rubles (it was 1700 rubles), and, for example, an unlimited travel card for 30 days will now cost 2075 rubles (75 rubles more). At the same time, single travel cards for one and two trips will not rise in price.

By the way, from January 1, Moscow schoolchildren and students can save time when buying travel cards. From now on, tickets are valid for a period of three months, which will cost students 750 rubles for trips on land transport and 1,140 rubles for use in the subway.

Taxes on land and vehicles

In 2018, the principle of calculating property tax is changing. From now on, it will be calculated from the cadastral value of objects, and not from the inventory, as it was before. In practice, this means a change in the amount of tax, most often in the direction of its increase. Another innovation concerns the owners of land plots who have not bothered to determine their boundaries (land surveying has not been carried out). Starting this year, they will not be able to make any transactions with such land, that is, the land cannot be sold or donated. At the same time, such unscrupulous owners of land are not deprived of property rights.

From now on, owners of expensive vehicles will be able to pay less taxes. The innovation concerns cars worth from three to five million rubles, not older than three years. To calculate the amount of tax, a fixed coefficient of 1.1 will now be used, while previously it was floating and depended on the year of issue.

In messengers without anonymous users

From January 1, for those who want to use messaging services anonymously, instant messengers have become unavailable. It is now possible to exchange messages only after user identification. This is done using the mobile phone number specified in the contract with the mobile operator. For the conclusion of such an agreement, we recall, the presentation of a passport is required.

Practicing psychologist, health coach

I am often asked the question “How to start a new life?” And definitely New Years. I can tell you right away that you can start a new life from any day and any month, but given that it’s December outside, it’s beautiful fluffy snow and everyone is in anticipation of miracles, during this period you can easily create your happy and successful plan for 2018 year.

In order to make it easier for our brain to accept our new desires and bring them to life, I suggest you play with it. And the game will consist in the fact that we will create our ideal scenario for 2018. You know, as they say, every great movie starts with a great script, and so it is with us: goal setting begins with these simple exercises:

  • Write down 30-50 of your desired goals for 2018.
  • Be sure to formulate them without a particle “NOT”, for example, instead of “simple” - simple, or “not to be sad” - but to have fun. And so on.
  • Formulate them in the present tense, as if it had already happened.
  • DETAILS, do not write, please, just: I want to be happy!!! If you want care, happiness, love, and so on, please write down this simple definition for yourself. Indicating one of these, non-specific words, describe for yourself what it means to you to be happy. For example, if you want care, then write to yourself what care is for you and from whom, maybe it's coffee in bed or a call from a loved one in the middle of the day with the question “How are you, are you all right?” or something else. This is important for writing our script. The more detailed you write it down in the present tense, the clearer your “movie” will be and the more specific your goal setting will be.
  • After you have prescribed all this, answer yourself the question: “What is now possible for me?”. What opportunities do I have now, given that everything I wanted has happened.

For example, if you want a car, you describe it in as much detail as possible - color, brand, interior, what kind of steering wheel, what smell is in your car, and after that you write: now I can go to visit my grandmother, now I can carry everything with me my important things (I, for example, carry a set of paint brushes with me in the car, because I don’t know when I want to paint. And I’m always ready). Describe 7-10 options for opportunities that you have. And be sure to imagine how you will feel! Feelings and emotions are the currency for buying your dreams.

  • This is your scenario and you are the main character in it: describe all your helpers, fairies, friends, those who will always come to your aid.
  • Describe those people or situations that may prevent you from carrying out your plan. And the most important thing to do with it:
  1. think in the script how you can get around their influence or what you can do to make the result positive for you.
  2. And most importantly, think about why these people were sent to you. That they bring you USEFUL by their actions. It may sound strange, but I assure you, all the people in our lives give us lessons and these lessons are always for our good, we just cannot always recognize this good right away.

For example, if a guy left a girl for her girlfriend or just for another - great, life itself has taken trouble away from you. And saved you years of life. Think about this as you weigh the pros and cons of these situations.

I had a case when for several years in a row there was a person in my environment who constantly devalued my actions and achievements. Such phrases, for example: “And what's wrong with that? Nothing special! Just think, you didn’t earn a million, but only 100 thousand ”or“ yes, everyone can paint like that, nothing special. I can tell you: this is a very good incentive. Of course, I cleared my environment of such people, but it is difficult to overestimate their benefit in my life, because thanks to such people we become stronger, faster, richer, smarter, and many, many more things we can get good. So thank such people for the lessons and remove from your field. You create your script. And only you are responsible for who is present in your scenario.

Believe me, when you take responsibility for everything that happens in your life, you can easily create for yourself any conditions for a happy life.

And I will also share with you a cool trick on how to neutralize negative people. At the moment when a negative person is next to you, yells at you or just says some words that are not pleasant for you, if you cannot leave or stop him, try to look at him and imagine what he lacks in life , maybe joy or love, or success, or maybe you specifically know what this person loves. Then imagine him rejoicing, for example, from the fact that he does what he loves, or he receives a big win, or rides in his favorite car. Listen to it and imagine.

Julia Inamora's article, titled, does not quote from the Bible, it is not filled with references to authoritative sources, but it contains thoughts that are useful to any person, including ministers of the church. I think that the reader himself will appreciate it on its merits.

Do you know when fitness clubs have the highest concentration of people per square meter? Mondays and early in the year. It is the same initiators of a new life that come running from Monday. And “starting from scratch” in January is generally a sacred thing. However, most Monday adherents very soon "merge", life returns to their usual course. In order not to become one of them, the following 8 "reasons" should be taken from the contrary. And do the complete opposite!
After some time, they make another attempt to start all over again, and over and over again, all their attempts to change something in their lives fail. Are you familiar with this? Then stop torturing yourself, you still won't succeed. And that's why.

1. You don't know what you want

You understand that you are not satisfied with your life, you know that you want changes, but you do not know where to start and what measurable result you need. Without a clear goal, you will never force yourself to do something. Decide on a goal, write a list of actions that will lead you to this goal or at least bring you closer, select those that need to be done first, and start.

2. You are afraid of not succeeding.

It is difficult to start a business if you do not know in advance what awaits you: will you become successful, or will all your undertakings go down the drain. I'll tell you what awaits us: we will all die! Therefore, there is no point in being afraid of failure in something. Time passes, no need to waste it on empty fears. Better to try and fail than not to try at all.

3. You expect instant results

You want to wake up tomorrow rich, famous, with the figure of a fashion model and the man of your dreams, falling on one knee and begging you to become his wife. But life is not a fairy tale, fairy godmothers do not fly to us to make candy out of shit with a wave of a magic wand. In our harsh reality, even the slightest changes in life will have to work a lot. This is depressing, because you want everything at once. You are not ready for a long-term job, so you do not see an incentive to start. But a journey of a thousand kilometers begins with the first step.

4. You tend to procrastinate

If the idea comes to your mind to start a new life on Monday, on the first day of the month or after a vacation, then you belong to the category of people who put off any business for later. What happens to such plans is no secret to anyone: they remain only dreams that have never come true.

5. You don't know how to manage your time effectively.

I think you will agree that everything takes time. The mistake of many is that when planning a change, they do not think about planning their new daily routine. After all, to go for a run in the morning, you need to get up early, which means go to bed early. To go to driving lessons or dance lessons in the evening, you need to leave the child with someone. And not just once, but on an ongoing basis. And if all these issues are not resolved in advance, then you will encounter a bunch of obstacles simply because of a lack of time and effort, and after a couple of classes you will send all your Napoleonic plans to hell.

6. You are not ready for difficulties.

You seem to want to take action, but the very thought that you have to change something in your life scares you. Any change is a departure from the familiar, and they are almost always difficult. But if you are afraid of change, hard to get used to new people and environments, then your brain will constantly give you convenient excuses to pull you back into the familiar. And sooner or later he will win.

7. Your environment does not support you.

If family and friends support your aspirations and even push you into real action, then the likelihood that you will start moving rolls increases many times over. And if, on the contrary, they dissuade you or even put spokes in the wheels, then you most likely will not start a new life. It's hard to go on a diet when your husband orders pizza every night and persuades you to eat another slice.

8. You don't believe you need it.

When a person really needs something, he will not wait for Monday, the new year, the second coming or the alien invasion. He will start here and now, because he already understood why he needs to quit smoking, go to personal growth courses, learn a language or get a second higher education. He sees a goal for which he needs to take certain steps. And he makes them. If you are looking for a reason to start, then you do not believe that you really need it. “Start from Monday” in this case is a kind of kick in the ass, because you can’t find any other reasons.
